Raffi Aghajanian is the COO at Venturpoint, where he leads operations in research and development, engineering project management, and clinical data analysis. As an Armenian-American biomedical engineer and entrepreneur, Raffi brings a unique blend of technical expertise, healthcare innovation, and community-driven passion to the company’s mission.

Born in Jordan and now based in Pacific Grove, California, Raffi earned his Bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering with Magna Cum Laude honors from the University of California, Irvine. During his time at UC Irvine, he distinguished himself as one of the top 2% of his class, with academic focus areas that included photomedicine, imaging, and biotransport phenomena.

Raffi brings hands-on experience working with diagnostic and biomedical technologies, including real-time patient monitoring systems, low-cost medical devices, and prototype design for innovative endoscopic imaging platforms. His background also includes research in Professor Daryl Preece’s Quantum Biophotonics Lab, where he worked at the intersection of nano-optics, neurophotonics, and biophotonics, exploring how light interacts with matter and leveraging optical forces for biomedical applications such as laser cell surgery, neuronal repair, and mechanotransduction. This experience deepened his understanding of complex light-based systems and their translational potential in healthcare. Raffi has collaborated with clinicians, researchers, and engineering firms on scalable, impactful projects aimed at improving global health equity and access to care.

Prior to being a part of Venturpoint, Raffi worked in both technical and clinical roles, including as a biomedical technician for elderly patient health monitoring, and as a medical coder for physician practices. His work has always bridged engineering and patient care, grounded in real-world application and data-driven solutions.

Beyond the lab and boardroom, Raffi is deeply committed to empowering fellow Armenian-Americans in business and technology. He actively mentors and collaborates within diaspora networks, helping underrepresented professionals and entrepreneurs find pathways to success.

When he’s not building the future of medical innovation, Raffi enjoys experimenting with Middle Eastern cuisine, training in boxing, and traveling. He finds that each of these pursuits, from the discipline of boxing to the perspective gained through exploring Europe and the Middle East, complements his work by reinforcing focus, creativity, and resilience.
